Medical Eye Exam and Vision Exam

At the Advanced Eye Center, we strive to provide comprehensive eye care for all members of the family, including diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of all kinds of ocular diseases such as Dry eye, Glaucoma, Cataracts, Hypertension and Diabetic Complications, Macular Degeneration, Floaters, Retinal Detachment, Retinal Tears, and more. We also manage and treat vision disorders such as, Lazy eye, Crossed-eyes, and vision-related Headaches.

Annual eye exams are important in maintaining good eye health. Oftentimes, ocular disorders do not have obvious signs and symptoms, especially at the early stages, but can be detected and diagnosed by an experienced eye doctor. Prompt treatment can restore eye conditions and prevent vision loss.

Prior to seeing Dr. Amy Chen, you will be asked questions about any symptoms or issues you are experiencing as well as your family health history. As part of a comprehensive eye exam, Dr. Chen will evaluate the overall health of your eyes by examining anterior structures and posterior structures of the eye using the latest technology and equipment. After completing these short tests, Dr. Chen will review the results and discuss any necessary treatment options with you. She will also provide appropriate treatments or recommendations for you.

Tests we perform

Slit lamp test: examining anterior segment of the eye structures.
Retinal exam: utilizing Canon fundus camera, Optos retinal imaging to examine the posterior segment of the eye structures.

Glaucoma tests: utilizing Carl Zeiss Visual field, OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography), Tonometry for early diagnosis and monitoring glaucoma progression.

Ultrasound test: examining the vitreous body, retinal and any other obstructed structures in the back of the eyes.
Other tests (Binocular vision, Depth perception, Eye muscle mobility, Color vision): determine whether the eyes are focusing, moving, and working together properly.

The American Optometric Association recommends yearly or bi-yearly eye and vision exams.
